In its short history ST Design already boasts several completed works featured in books and magazines including: Elle Décor and H.O.M.E., among others.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia and received his Architectural Degree from the St. Petersburg Academy of Art in 1986. He began his career in St. Petersburg and settled into the Hamburg based architectural firm NPS Architekten BDA in 1995. He quickly advanced to partner of nps tchoban voss, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden in 1996. His studio SPEECH Tchoban & Kuznetsov was founded in 2006 and provides a local presence for Tchoban’s expanding projects in Russia. Sergei Tchoban’s project repertoire includes a wide variety of office and commercial buildings as well as hotels and multi use centers. Among his most renowned buildings are the Cubix Cinema (Berlin, 2001), Dom Aquarée (Berlin, 2004), the Benois business center (St. Petersburg, 2007), the residential complex "house by the sea" (St. Petersburg, 2008), E-Plus company headquarters (Düsseldorf, 2009) and the N-How hotel (Berlin 2011). Current projects include a luxury condominium structure "Granatny 6" (Moscow), the "Hamburger Hof" (Berlin) and the new Nevsky city hall and the "Europe embankment" (both in St. Petersburg).
Born in New York City and received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute in 1995. He apprenticed at offices in Connecticut and New York before joining Ferguson Shamamian Architects in 1998. While there he collaborated on various high-end custom residential projects throughout the United States for notable clients ranging from entrepreneurs to fashion models. In 2004, Nicholas moved to Berlin where he met Sergei Tchoban and began working with NPS Tchoban Voss Architekten. He formed the firm’s interior decoration department in 2007 where he managed projects ranging from luxury residential homes to product design. Nicholas Barsan’s experiences with interior architecture and decoration have been published and featured in books and magazines including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, H.O.M.E., Vogue and Rizzoli. In 2011 he and Sergei Tchoban established ST Design and lead an international team from the firm’s office in the heart of Berlin.
